Professional equipment to freeze fat cells is a specialized device for body contouring. Cooling temperature which only effect the fat tissue is then applied to the area in a controlled process, ‘freezing’ the fat cells in localized area for a controlled period of time. This science, first developed by scientists at MIT in the 1990’s branded it as cryolipolysis. There are many types of devices for freezing fat cells. Most only employ cold. While this technology is very effective, it is, at best, a one dimensional approach.
When freezing fat cells the skin is not damaged, but subcutaneous fat, which is more sensitive to targeted cold, begins a two to three-month-long dissolution after each fat freezing procedure. A professional fat freezing machine is lightweight with a compact design that can be used in different treatment rooms or offices.
Fat freezing is a non-invasive treatment used to destroy fat cells by freezing. The functional principle is the controlled application of cooling, within the temperature range of 0 to -4°C, for the non-invasive, localized reduction of fat deposits, in order to reshape the contours of the body. The degree of exposure to cooling causes the apoptosis (cell death) of subcutaneous fat tissue, without damage to the overlying skin or the surrounding tissue. Fat cells can only be killed by cold.
As an aesthetic procedure, fat freezing is a non-surgical alternative to liposuction. Etymologically, the term cryolipolysis (freezing of fat) is derived from the Greek roots cryo, meaning cold; lipo, meaning fat; and lysis, meaning dissolution or loosening.
Fat freezing devices vary in how they operate. Some rely on a cooling head with a vacuum that temporarily decreases blood flow to the treated area, immobilizing the fat tissue, and isolating the treated area from surrounding tissue. Due to the suction element, this format has more risks and corresponding contraindications vs. less invasive approaches that employ a manually operated wand or fixed position static pads that do not employ suction. Newer, more technologically advanced devices employ both cold and heat. Following this prolonged cooling period there is a period of heat. This process of cold followed by heat is to ensure that the fat cells crystallize, and after melting, the broken fat cells release their lipids into the lymphatic system, which will gradually eliminate them by natural metabolism.
Effectively improve the body, focus on targeted fat precisely and fat reduce and body reshaping.
Machine Applications
Abdomen shaping – Fat Belly, beer belly, postpartum fat, post-natal stretch marks removal
Waist tighten – Tighten loose skin of waist and abdomen, remove “swimming circle”of abdomen and waist to meet the requirement of streamlined waist curve.
Arm firming – Reduce fat deposits in the tricep that can occur on women as they age.
Thigh and buttocks slimming – Reduce fat on the outer and inner thighs.
Reduction in back fat
Fat freezing treatments are safe and effective and provide reliable, long-term results
Just a few sessions are all it takes for amazing results to become visible. You can:
Model the body
Eliminate localized fat
The process of crystallization of the adipocyte cell under negative temperatures is present in several equipment available in the market.
This equipment eliminates localized fat with the use of low temperatures. Thus, the fat cells are frozen and destroyed.
To perform the procedure, a gel is applied to the person’s skin and then the device is positioned in the area that will be treated. Devices range from: (1) minimally invasive devices employing a Cryo Wand such as those used by the Cryo or STAR T Shock to; (2) a fixed position static pad without suction as employed by the STAR T Shock with static pads, or: (3) the most invasive applicators using suction and cold as employed by CoolSculpting and other fat freezing devices. After the gel (and or paddles are applied) the cooling procedure begins. The temperature may range from 0 to -11C depending on the device used. Then we are at a point the cells start to freeze. After a 40-50 minute period the fat cells are ruptured and, subsequently, eliminated over time, passing though the body’s lymphatic system and excreted through sweat and urine.
Abdomen
Arms
Thighs (inner and upper part)
Buttocks
Back (bra area and lower back)
The procedure should not be performed by anyone who:
have problems with cold (such as cryoglobulinemia);
have cold urticaria or hemoglobinuria;
have had recent surgery
pregnancy
severe diabetes
has active cancer
Like any procedure, freezing fat cells also has risks, even if it is considered safe. This happens mainly when safety protocols are not followed. See what the main risks are:
2nd or 3rd degree burns when the device is not calibrated;
not paying attention to the recommendations.
What are the expected results?
The injured cells are eliminated by the body in about 4 to 6 months. During this period, the amount of fat tissue decreases in size, by about 20%.
A study published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), concluded that:
Fat freezing is a promising procedure for non-surgical fat reduction and body contouring and presents an attractive alternative to liposuction and other more invasive methods. This procedure appears to be safe in the short term, with a limited side effect profile and results in significant fat removal when used for localized adiposities.
Another scientific study, published by the same institute, has proven that fat freezing with contrast is safe and effective in reducing the fat layer and improving body contouring.
The Harvard School of Medicine states that: Results can be seen within three weeks, with maximum benefit in approximately three months.
The dynamics of radiofrequency are quite different from how fat freezing works. Fat Freezing uses cold to kill the fat cell as only cold can kill a fat cell (fat cells die when exposed to temperatures of between 12-17C)
Radio Frequency (RF) does not cause cell death as achieved through fat freezing. With RF, heat is employed to cause the fat cell to explode, releasing it’s lipids. The fat cells can then reinflate with lipids in time. This reinflation process varies based on diet and exercise. RF technicians have to be very careful not to burn the client as they work with temperatures in excess of 45C which can cause cell necrosis.
